All Sheep and Lamb Discussion / Pregnecol / PG600
« on: May 18, 2018, 10:12:12 am »
I can not find PG600.  Might have a lead on some Pregnecol.  Looks promising.  I am thinking 500IU per ewe when the CIDR is pulled.

How important is refrigeration?  We did not use to refrigerate PG600.  Now it is recommended.

Any other thoughts?

Would not do fitter 35 unless you want to burn fat.  It will help with muscle definition by making them leaner.  Itbdepends on current weight and finish. but the pics look like I would stay from fitters 35

Should get exact weights.
I would be looking at a 16% honor feed vs the 18% with 30 days until the show.
Would also work on setting and showing them vs. the sprinting.

I have seen a compromise.  Clubs have the same color scheme, but each kid has their own shirt.  The shirt could be a button up or a polo, just the same color.

Wow!  That is how a person should present online entries.  This is a tremendous set of lambs.

Pro - access to some trendy rams without having lots of cash.
Also, if the ram does not work out you are out a few lambs without being out a very expensive ram.
Con- still need a good cleanup ram.

LAI has helped me tremendously in my efforts to better my flock

I still have kids go through the old, placed classes.  A lot of value there.

The Cashmere FFA took 8 lambs to the fair this week and 5 of 8 were my lambs in the FFA champion drive.  They placed Grand and Reserve Grand.  They also had 2 of my lambs with a younger sibling.  That lamb took Reserve Grand on the 4-H side as well.  Great job to the feeding and showing that those kids did!
One of our lambs also placed Reserve Grand FFA a month ago at the Skagit Fair.
Pics to follow.  By the way. All of these were Apollo lambs!!!

I have read 1 Oz daily.  Not sure how it would effect heat sterility though

Pretty much the same as Karin and we got a 75% conception rate from a May 25th breeding this year using fresh chilled semen.  Went 50% on teh 2 that we used frozen semen on (exact same protocol).  We ran out of the fresh.

Good body condition, sheared within 60 days. Good mineral, dewormed and chlamydia and vibrio shots up to date.  No other vitamins or shots except for mineral and on good, lush pasture.
14 day CIDR
PG 600 when remove CIDR at 6 cc IM
Remove from feed and water 24 hours pre-LAI.
+/- 2 hrs, 48 hours later, AI.

Pretty easy.  Oh, we didn't use mature ewes that have not had early lambs.
On the plus side.  We got 8 out of 9 that took that were February ewe lambs from last year.  All virgins.  I was extremely excited about that.  We will be holding the March Apollo lambs and do this with them in May next year.  Hopefully if works again!
