I can't remember for sure who recommended Keto gel, but I had a ewe about three weeks out from lambing begin to act dopey, not eating well and just generally depressed. I gave her Keto gel, and B complex shots, and one dose of CMPK drench. I think I treated her four times with the Keto gel, well she came right back, appetite and energy went back to normal and had healthy twins Sunday morning.

Great news! Don Drewry has recommended Keto Jel.

Sorry Rex, I corrected Crystal's butchering of my name and then saw you were having fun at one of our expenses. By that time, I figured I'd just delete the "after notes"

LOL Don

Okay, so it WAS Don...well I just wanted to say thanks for the tip, because it worked, and since I had dealt with ketosis before I was much better this time at catching a problem in the very early stages. To say I was pleased and relieved to see her attacking her food as a normal pregnant ewe should is an understatement :D

Where do you get the keto gel? I couldn't find it anywhere up here?
-
I ordered it I think from valley Vet Supply.

Well what do you know, I just found it at Nasco online. I didn't think they had it.

One of the things I like about the tubes (KetoGel, KetoGel+, CalGel, ....) is they all store well and they are relatively low cost. I can buy them, throw them in a storage bucket and they are there if I ever need one. I use Ketogel anytime I have a sheep that's gone off of feed and I want to make sure it's getting energy going in. Seems to work well to give them enough energy to help get over what ever the problem is. Of course if I have ketosis I use it but don't see much of that anymore but we did have a 8 year old ewe that got it this year.

What dosage of Keto Gel should I use on a 160+ lb ewe ?
-
I would give her 3 clicks twice a day. Could go to a 3rd time.
