: Docking tails

So last year it seemed like we didn't get a few of our lambs' tails docked short enough.  Not sure if the bands slipped or if we just aren't putting them short enough.  Can I get any tips on Docking in regards to placement of the band?  We do not have any rules on the length of the tail in our state.  Thanks!!

Put one band on as short as you can.  Make sure it is "square" to the lamb.  Then put another band on rolling it past the first one.  It will be short enough. If not straight use the prong on bander to realign the bands.

We do like Don said. One band up as high as you can get it, and then a second just above that. A trick is to pull the skin tight under the band. This keeps it from slipping down.
