All Sheep and Lamb Discussion / Hard Tops/Toplines
« on: March 21, 2017, 08:34:15 pm »
Hi all,   :) :D

So, I understand that, like most things, hard/muscled toplines come from genetics, and without the proper genetics, all attempts are futile, however, I was wondering if any of you had advice for, when you know your animal has the genetic potential, to pop/define/harden up their handling of the topline?

Any specific exercises, supplements, nutrition strategies, or ideas for hardening their handle?

For isometrics used in hardening the top, how can you go about so they don't end up breaking at the loin?

Thank you all so much in advance!

All Sheep and Lamb Discussion / Shag/Hair Care Products
« on: March 30, 2016, 02:46:45 pm »
Hello everyone!
As shag has become a very desirable trait in show lambs nowadays, I am trying to decide on which products to use for daily leg wool/shag care. Now, I know you cant get shag without genetics, but I hope to take my lambs shag to its fullest potential.

So, here's my main question:
What products/mixes do you use when caring for your lambs leg wool/shag?

Shag Swag, Weaver's Conditioning Cream, Kleen Sheen and Vinegar, etc.

And also, what's your usual daily shag care routine?

Thank you! :)

All Sheep and Lamb Discussion / Isometrics! (And Exercise in General)
« on: December 14, 2015, 03:31:57 pm »
Hello everyone!  :)
I'd like to thank you all in advance for any and all information provided!
I have done lots of research on the topic of exercising show/market lambs, and although I know quite a bit about the subject, I was hoping to hear from some of the knowledgeable people on this forum!
Now, I understand that muscle is mostly dependant on genetic potential, and partially based on nutrition, but I would still like to learn how to tone the muscle in my lambs!
So, my question is: how do you execute isometrics with your lambs? I understand the basics, but what specific muscle groups do you target and how?
Also, how many sets/reps do you do for how long, and how often?
What's your routine warm up and cool down for isometrics?
And while we're at it, what else does your exercise routine include? (If you have a treadmill, how long at what speed do you use? If you have a track and dog, what's your routine? If you utilize sprinting, how far? Etc.)
Thank you all again!  :)
