All Sheep and Lamb Discussion / RamGo ?

I just saw an article about RamGo a non-surgical A.I. procedure for sheep. The procedure made reasonable sense to me, but I have zero experience with A.I. in sheep. Is this as advertised a new, economical ,and successful technique?

All Sheep and Lamb Discussion / Feeding ewe lambs to lamb as yearlings

How much do you feed your bred ewe lambs? I know it is a balance to get as much growth of the ewe lambs but not excessively big baby lambs. I've been feeding 1 lb 12% commercial sheep feed twice a day with all the good quality grass hay they want .

All Sheep and Lamb Discussion / feeding ewes during gestation
« on: December 17, 2016, 09:27:02 am »
I used to feed whole corn during the last 6 weeks of gestation but when my family started raising club lamb/ wether type ewes they did not seem to do as well and we switched to feeding a commercial 12% sheep feed. I feed at a rate of 3/4-1 lb daily along with good quality grass hay. After lambing I switch the ewes to alfalfa hay and increase the pounds of the 12% sheep feed. My question is with lower corn and SBM prices what would be a ration I could have mixed at the coop that would be good? What do other producers feed?

All Sheep and Lamb Discussion / Raising replacement ewe lambs
« on: October 26, 2015, 05:02:31 am »
Our 4-H/FFA flock is pretty small and until this year we haven't had very many replacement ewe lambs. They are crossbred wether type lambs. What is the best way to feed these lambs? We have the older lambs (145+lbs) in with a ram lamb for March/April lambs and were planning on breeding the others as yearlings.HP

All Sheep and Lamb Discussion / Show blankets
« on: October 25, 2015, 09:31:10 am »
Our grandchildren just finished up their show season. Looking to some upgrades for next year. One is to make new show blankets. Seems I remember seeing patterns for making them. Does anybody have patterns, instructions, or advice? Thanks
