What Shane recommends is priority 1 for gut health. Especially the quality roughage part.
In addition we've added Goats Prefer brand "Probiotic Power" to water for quite a few years now. Excellent product at a fraction of the cost of some of the popular products. Get it at TSC.
Necessity of products like these are debatable. This particular product is extremely inexpensive. Over the years we got better and better at maximizing feed efficiency and appetite. Adding Probiotic Power to the water was a part of the equation along with housing, feeding, deworming and coccidiosis control.

Was at a meeting last night, and sheep nutritionist was there. He likes high quality grass hay. Alafalfa is to variable, is all rumen degradable protein, and fiber profile is nothing like it was 10 years ago. The feed company he builds feed for sampled over 16000 hay samples each of that 3 years. Good grass hay,is what he recommends. And he builds rations for dairy sheep.

Have used Vita-Ferm Sure Champ for a long time.  Even before the $25/pound stuff available today.  We use bermuda for our roughage with high grain show feeds.  Currently using Jacoby lamb feeds and happy with the results.  Only additives are Sure-Champ and Winners Edge mineral.
